The good thing about MLM and the thing that draws so many people to it is the fact that a business blueprint has already been laid out for you. It is somewhat like franchising. The basic business structure is already setup; all you have to do is start working the MLM business.

It is great for people with little business savvy, limited capital, and little time. And it can work extremely well for someone who is very business savvy, has money to invest and wants to do it full-time. So MLM is extremely flexible.
Success in MLM means money, time and location freedom. You can literally live a dream life once you have success in building an MLM business. You are not a slave to your business; instead the business serves YOU to make your life enjoyable.
However, as with anything good, there are drawbacks to an MLM business. And I believe that becoming aware of the drawbacks is very important for someone who wants to seriously pursue a successful career in MLM, whether part-time or full-time. By knowing the drawbacks, you can take steps to minimize how they can affect you.
The Drawbacks:
1. As an MLM distributor, you have no say in how the MLM Company operates, unless if you serve the MLM Company in some kind of an agreement; most of the times, you as a distributor can't decide what the MLM Company should do and not do. That is why it very critical that you choose an MLM Company that thinks like you do and represents your ideas and philosophies; because you will be representing them. I don't know about you, but I definitely don't want to represent something I don't believe in. Even though you don't control what the MLM Company does, you as a distributor represent what they do... think about that.
2. Another real drawback of an MLM business is that your income can be taken away anytime! Most MLM Companies will have it in their "Terms & Conditions" that they can change the Pay Plan ANYTIME and that they can terminate you ANYTIME if you don't completely adhere to their policies. You can be careful and adhere to their policies, BUT you can't do anything whatsoever about them changing their MLM Pay Plan, in other words, how they compensate you. You are at the mercy of the MLM Company's integrity, ethics and faithfulness to you. Many successful MLM distributors have lost huge incomes because their MLM Company decided to change the Pay Plan. Sometimes it is for the Company survival, but often times it is because of the greed of the owner or owners to keep more of the money.
I have personally experienced my income being taken away after I had invested 4 years of my life with an MLM Company. I don't need to tell you that it is no fun to have to start all over again.
I am not trying to discourage anyone here from working in MLM. Nevertheless, I believe that it is important to choose an MLM Company that operates on high ethical principles, is faithful to its distributors, wants to have a long-term relationship with its distributors, and operates within the ideas and philosophies you believe in.
Sure, that is a lot to ask for, but trust me it is well worth it to do your due diligence. You see, you are investing the valuable time of your life building your MLM business. Time you could be spending with your family or doing what you enjoy doing. You don't want to give that time away to an MLM Company that is not faithful to you or does not operate the way you believe they should operate.
So, my friend, build your MLM business. It is one of the most productive things you can do in your life, BUT do your research and build it with an MLM Company that resonates with you and that will stand by you.
